For far superior results than you’d get with a 115V AC to 230V AC transformer, come to the experts for a 50Hz to 60Hz converter. What can our frequency converters do for you? An affordable 50Hz to 60Hz converter can deliver regulated 115V AC or 230V AC at 50 or 60Hz, taking the place of a 115V to 230V AC transformer. We even have a model, our Apollo, that can power 24V AC turntables, sprinkler systems, thermostats, and more. And all of our products work both ways; in other words, acting as 50Hz to 60Hz converters, or as 60Hz to 50Hz converters!
We have a solution for virtually any conversion need. We have economical models which can power AC clocks, flip clocks, clock radios, turntables, telescope equatorial mounts, clippers and shavers–anything you need, up to 200 Watts. Need to power entire audio systems? KCC Scientific has the model you need, so explore our selections!
If, in addition to something to travel with, you’re looking for a professional series converter, we have designed a voltage and frequency converter that includes remote programming for automated production test.
Some Notes on Powering Shavers and Clippers. We are quite aware that there are some very tempting, attractive budget products out there offered at unbelievably low prices designed to power shavers, claiming output wattage numbers that are difficult to believe given their size. Be careful! They are not what they appear. Evaluations show that:
- None were safety-protected or rated. One Chinese-made model we tried sparked, smoked, and exploded internally when overloaded.
- One has 3 prong output plugs and 2 prong input cord. The safety ground is not connected anywhere!
- All were square wave output instead of sine wave. This means that a shaver will not operate as quietly (or as cool) using the budget product.
- One very popular unit did not operate at 60Hz. Several of this model we measured were closer to 65Hz, which dramatically lowers the effectiveness of the cut on many shavers.
Many high-quality shavers and clippers manufactured by Oster, Babyliss, Andis and Wahl (among others) are designed for 60Hz sine wave power. Even though both brushed and brushess-motor devices claim to be universal, some will operate quite differently on 50Hz vs. 60Hz. Many will have a different “feel,” operating speed, efficiency, and cut. Some shavers, like the Andis Master Series, are completely unusable and inefficient when operated on any frequency other than exactly 60Hz. To get the most out of these devices, they need to be operated on exactly the same AC power line frequency for which they were designed–clean sine wave at the precise frequency and voltage. That’s where KCC frequency converters come in.
Athena is adequate for nearly all shavers, and we have tested it with some very beastly clippers. Even the 45-watt rated Oster Model 10 clipper can be powered by the Athena, which can provide 50 watts, several minutes at a time. We have powered the Oster Model 10 using the Athena for over 20 minutes with absolutely no issues; the Athena remains cool and composed. If you are in a salon environment and need to operate multiple clippers at once, then our Professional Series Thor (or even Hercules) may be the better choice. But for most single shaver or clipper applications, the Athena is more than adequate for the job. Athena is portable, so you can pack it in your travel kit and take it with you to countries which do not have the frequency and voltage required for the shaver or clipper. And, Athena is extremely rugged and reliable, so you will have the power you need when you need it. All of our products are sine wave output (just like mains power), no exceptions.
A Note on Wall Adapters. KCC Frequency converters use high-quality AC to DC wall adapters which are tested to UL and CE international safety standards. They safely transform the mains power available locally to a common, safe low voltage DC level used to power the converter itself. The appropriate wall adapter is provided with the product, and should be kept with the product. The Medical-Grade designs used for Athena and Professional Series products add an additional layer of safety, important with shavers and clippers. They are also replaceable, making it easier to maintain your product.
Please note that the wall adapters are not interchangeable between models. Although we have been endeavoring to harmonize to a standard voltage wall adapter (all new products use 48V DC adapters), our legacy Model 1930-115V (Chronos) still uses a different voltage wall adapter (15V DC) than the rest of our products. So please always use the wall adapter supplied with your product.
