The rising global connections are a driving force behind this pandemic, illustrating how humanity’s reliance on one another has once again sparked opportunities for disease to spread. Today, while we implement the “President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America,” we are all asked to do our part over the next 15 days to slow the spread in order to spare our healthcare resources, workers and citizens.

Guidelines to Slowing the Spread of COVID-19
- Work or school from home
- Avoid discretionary travel, shopping or social visits
- Avoid social gatherings of 10 or more
- Practice good hygiene
- Use drive thru, delivery or pick up options
- Do not visit nursing homes or hospitals
- If you work in a critical industry, follow CDC guidelines
As the US President, organizations and governments around the world ask citizens to practice social distancing to help reduce the rate of infection, the digital world is allowing people to maintain connections and commerce like never before. Yet despite all the connections and collaboration worldwide, one area we have not been able to unify on a global level is the Power Grid.
Global Power
To unify the world into one power grid standard would require an undertaking not unlike the social agreement required to flatten the curve on this pandemic. It would require an unprecedented level of agreement between not only countries but local municipalities. If agreement were to be reached (by some miracle), the hardware retooling would make it a daunting impossibility. Here at KCC Scientific, we believe the only way to unify the power grid is to create an intermediary product provides the conversion locally. That intermediary product is a selectable voltage and frequency converter. With this “go between,” devices can be powered on any power grid regardless of what it was designed for by simply converting the power coming from the mains to the device itself.
As folks uphold their civic duty of “social distancing” and “quarantine in place,” practicing self-care is imperative. This care could include increased health initiatives, hobbies or pleasure at home. If you find yourself in another power grid due to the travel bans with planes, trains, boats and buses, perhaps you may need some help with power conversion. Do you have electrical devices, like durable medical equipment, power tools or stereo equipment designed for another power grid? Perhaps now is the time to bring out those devices to self-care in place.
Power Conversion
Do you have electrical equipment designed for a different power grid from another part of the world?
Look at the back or bottom of your device for the tag that defines its power needs. The power requirements will be designated in watts (W), voltage (V) and frequency in (50/60Hz). Armed with this information, you can then choose a voltage and frequency converter that meets the needs of your electronic device.
